Get to know Johnnie
Gallatin isn’t just where I live. It’s home. I was born and raised here, and the values that shaped my life were formed in this community: faith, family, hard work, service, and looking out for your neighbors.
My parents, George and Ellien, were active in Gallatin as coaches and mentors to me, my brothers Allen and Matthew, and many of our friends. Their example taught me the importance of giving back and investing in the next generation.
Today, I’m proud to share that same Gallatin way of life with my wife, Betsy, and our two daughters. I want Gallatin to remain a place where families can put down roots, raise their children, know their neighbors, and be proud to call home.

Cares About People
For nearly 20 years, Johnnie served others as an Athletic Trainer in healthcare and sports medicine. He worked with athletes from elementary school through the professional and Olympic levels and helped create the current Athletic Trainer employment model for Sumner County Schools. His career reflects a simple belief: listen, care, and help people succeed.
Leadership In Action
As Assistant Principal for Career and Technical Education at Gallatin High School, Johnnie helps prepare students for skilled trades and professional careers.
By building strong partnerships with local businesses, he has helped create pathways that connect students directly to career opportunities while strengthening Gallatin’s future workforce.

Proven Policy Skills
Johnnie worked at the state and federal levels to advocate for athletic training and local education. Since 2018, he has chaired the Governmental Affairs Committee for the Tennessee Athletic Trainers’ Society and previously served on its Executive Board from 2011 to 2015. He helped write the original concussion legislation in 2012 and 2013 and, during the 114th General Assembly, led efforts to pass the updated Tennessee Athletic Trainer Practice Act.
